Decide what you want, where you want to go, who you want to go with, and how you want it to feel when you get there. These are important steps for goal setting. Steps that our Mindset Giants remind us of repeatedly. Keep your focus on your end results. Create the picture of how your new reality will be. Visualize, in minute detail, how you want it to feel. Feel it, before you see it!
How many times have you heard this important message? And how many times have you forgotten about your ‘End Goal’, because you’re all caught up in what’s going on around you, or in what you’re ‘supposed’ to obtain before you can have, feel, or experience what you really want.
In this video, Vishen Lakhiani, founder of Mindvalley, talks about how he created the first A-fest, one of the world’s most impactful gatherings for mindset, motivation, and deliberate creation. He explains how he shifted from ‘Means Goals’ of what he needed to acquire - money, title, etc., to ‘End Goals’ of how he wanted to feel, and what he wanted to experience.
According to Lakhiani, the “Means Goal”, is SO that I can do something. For example, “I want to have money, SO that I can travel.”. It is the literal means to an end. The “End Goal” is what happens after the “SO”. It’s all about how that goal makes you feel. It leads directly to your happiness. It is, “I want to travel because it feels joyful, adventurous, and free.”.
I have created some ‘End Goals’ of my own. For example, I want to enjoy sharing what I learn about mindset and the power of thought with as many people as possible. I want to create positive energy, and find joy through helping others to create positive, lasting changes of their own. I want to feel good living my truth, and to make a good living contributing to things that I believe in. These are a few of my own ‘End Goals’ that guide my focus and actions.
I know first hand that creating ‘End Goals’ works because this is how I am contributing to MindsetGiants… RIGHT… NOW! This is how I can write these words and share them with you. Through knowing what I wanted to experience and how I wanted to feel in my life, life has given me the chance to connect with MindsetGiants, and to share this video and this article with you.
We can take deliberate control of how we feel to define our ‘End Goals’, move past what is, and take action towards where we want to go. Creating our ‘end goals’ gives our minds a feeling focus. When we can sense how the end result feels, we can align with and attune to things that match our end goal, and we can easily follow what feels good to desired results.
Like Lakhiani says, “When we tell our minds and give them an order to attain something, things start to happen - the right opportunities, the right connections, the right path, gut feelings, that move us towards these things.” Because I know what I want and how I want to feel, my mind has a blueprint or a direction to source out the opportunities that make that feeling a reality... here I am, writing this for you… and it feels great!
So, what are some of your 'End Goals"? What do you want life to open up to you? Where are you ready to go, how are you ready to feel, and who do you want to feel it with? Can’t wait to hear about where you’re headed in the comments section below.
