When J.K. Rowling wrote the first books in the Harry Potter series, she was as poor as can be, a single parent and grieving the loss of her mother. Any one of these struggles, or even those a 10th of what she was living through, are enough to stop so many of us from pursuing our dreams.
We tell ourselves 'now is not the right time' or 'I'm not in the right frame of mind' or 'I couldn't handle if I were to fail".
The 'fairy tale' of Jo Rowling's success is not actually a fairy tale at all, but a reminder that when we accept ourselves for what and who we truly are, stripping away all of the pretenses of who we think we should be or thought we were, we discover our fundamental selves, and a dream that emits from our fundamental self is stronger than any adversity, any tragedy, and can truly change the world.
“Rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life.”
