I love SuperSoul Sunday. So many great insights from some of the most fascinating minds. This video is no exception. One of the things that struck me the most in this talk with Adyashanti - particularly as a parent to a 1 year old - is the section about how once we've named something, we tend to lose the wonder of it. Adyashanti says "When you teach a child that a bird is named 'bird' then child will never see the bird again." That's what the innocence of children is - they still see the wonder of things that grown ups just label and then rarely look at in any depth ever again.
It's the idea that we KNOW what something is, so we don't need to examine it. The two most dangerous words in the english language - I Know.
This made me think of our 'selves'. Because we constantly listen to the stream of thoughts going in our heads, we think we know ourselves well - but those thoughts are not us, we are the observers of those thoughts - the presence that is aware of the thoughts. If we simply took the time to examine ourselves closely perhaps we'd see ourselves as the wondrous beings that we are rather than constantly pointing out our faults or fears, etc...
Accept that you don't know yourself, and you are suddenly able to create yourself anew.
